Aptos launches Confidential APT on mainnet for compliant use cases

Aptos has launched Confidential APT on its mainnet, allowing users to encrypt token balances and transfer amounts while keeping their wallet addresses visible on-chain. The feature, integrated into Petra Wallet, relies on zero-knowledge proofs and homomorphic encryption to verify transaction validity without exposing actual amounts. It targets compliance-heavy use cases such as payroll processing, corporate treasury management, and business-to-business settlements. By mid-August 2026, approximately 15,000 APT had already moved into confidential pools. Since wallet addresses remain public, authorities can still trace fund flows between wallets, providing a balance between privacy and regulatory requirements.
