Sheba Medical Center tests OpenAI’s ChatGPT for Healthcare in Israel

Share

Sheba Medical Center, based in Ramat Gan, Israel, has become the first hospital outside the United States to deploy OpenAI’s dedicated healthcare ChatGPT platform. The tool is designed to help clinicians synthesize medical literature, navigate clinical guidelines, and process public health data, without making diagnoses or prescribing treatments. Sheba and OpenAI have adopted a zero-data-retention policy, ensuring no patient information is stored or used to train machine learning models. The rollout will happen in phases across clinical, research, and operational teams, with clinicians retaining full responsibility for all final decisions. This collaboration marks an international expansion for OpenAI in healthcare, with a Sheba delegation scheduled to visit San Francisco in August 2026.
