An Amazon cargo jet crashed Sunday at Miami International Airport after overrunning the runway by about 1,300 feet, striking two vehicles and killing at least five people while injuring at least five others. The aircraft, operated by 21 Air LLC and arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, first hit a white Ford Econoline van with seven people on board before breaking through a perimeter fence and striking a Toyota Corolla Cross outside the airport. Investigators recovered the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder, with examinations expected to continue on site for at least a week. The accident caused more than 160 flight cancellations and nearly 325 delays during a busy holiday travel weekend, with two of the airport’s four runways remaining closed.
