Zcash climbed to an intraday high of $1,029 on Friday, its highest level in nearly a decade, triggering the forced closure of approximately $34.5 million in short positions. The cryptocurrency’s market cap reached nearly $17 billion, pushing it past Dogecoin among the ten largest cryptocurrencies. The token gained about 94% over the past 30 days and more than 2,300% over the past year. Grayscale’s Zcash ETF began trading on NYSE Arca under the ticker ZCSH on August 25. Bitcoin initially reclaimed $80,000 following Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller’s remarks, before falling back below that level after the August jobs report showed the U.S. added 162,000 jobs against a forecast of 56,000.
