Meta launched the Muse Spark 1.3 model on September 2, offering two distinct pricing tiers. The standard tier charges $1.25 per million input tokens and $4.25 per million output tokens. The Contributor tier reduces these rates to $0.10 and $0.20 respectively, representing a 12x to 21x discount, in exchange for sharing prompts, responses, and usage data with Meta for model training. The request rate drops from 3,000 per minute on standard to just 60 per minute for Contributor, making the latter unsuitable for large-scale applications. This strategy directly targets OpenAI and Anthropic, which charge premium rates without offering comparable data-sharing discounts.
