The European Commission adopted on March 19, 2025, a Savings and Investments Union strategy aimed at redirecting part of the €10 trillion in EU household deposits toward productive investments in capital markets. Currently, about 70% of EU household savings is held in bank deposits. According to European Central Bank analysis, if EU households aligned their deposit-to-financial-assets ratio with US households, up to €8 trillion could be redirected to market-based investments, representing an annual flow of around €350 billion. The plan does not mention Bitcoin and is not a digital-asset distribution initiative. The strategy focuses on developing European capital markets and financing businesses.
