The Dutch central bank (DNB) reorganized the location of 86 tonnes of gold between March and August 2026, shifting storage primarily from New York and Ottawa to London. The share deposited with the Bank of England increased from 18.1% to 32.1% of reserves, making London the Netherlands’ primary external gold storage location. The DNB sold approximately 59 tonnes of gold in New York to repurchase an equivalent amount in London, thereby avoiding transatlantic physical transport.
