US Central Command denies targeting civilians after reported wedding strike in Iran

A reported US airstrike struck a residence during a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, Sirik County, Iran, on September 1, killing at least four people and wounding around 68 to 70 others, according to Iranian state media. US Central Command (CENTCOM) denied targeting civilians, stating that operations targeted capabilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Among the identified victims were a four-year-old child, a 16-year-old teenager, and two adults aged 43. Iran condemned the strike as atrocities and vowed retaliation against US or allied targets amid an escalating conflict that began in 2026.
