Google has agreed to pay £260 million (approximately $353 million) to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by UK app developers. The developers accused the tech giant of abusing its dominant market position by charging a 30% commission on sales made through the Google Play Store between August 2018 and July 2026. The original claim was valued at over £1 billion. Of the total, £160 million will go to qualifying UK developers, with £100 million covering litigation costs and funding. Google settled without admitting any wrongdoing and avoided a planned 11-week trial scheduled to begin on September 28, 2026.
