US spot Bitcoin ETFs absorbed $2.23 billion during Bitcoin’s rally, marking the strongest seven-day intake of 2026 with cumulative inflows of $2.6 billion between August 17 and August 25. Short liquidations hit a record single-day event on August 19, accounting for roughly 85% of total liquidations, while futures open interest fell 11% and funding stayed near neutral. Bitcoin hit an intraday high of $79,251.60 on August 26, trading near $78,000, against a backdrop of US PCE inflation remaining above the Fed’s 2% target at 3.7% headline and 3.3% core. The $6.44 billion options expiry on Deribit Friday will test Bitcoin’s ability to settle above $83,300, Glassnode’s breakout confirmation level.
