The FDA approved Rasonque, a once-daily pill developed by Revolution Medicines targeting the RAS protein, long considered undruggable. The drug, priced at $39,800 for a 30-day supply, extends median survival to 13.2 months versus 6.7 months with standard chemotherapy and reduces death risk by 60% in patients with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma. This approval represents the first clinical validation of a therapeutic approach against RAS mutations, present in roughly a quarter of all human cancers, including pancreatic, lung and colorectal cancers. An estimated 67,530 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2026 and about 52,740 will die from it, making it the third-leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. with a five-year survival rate of only 13%.
