London-based Nscale has signed a $45 billion, six-year contract with Anthropic to provide computing services powered by Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips at the Monarch Compute Campus in West Virginia. The deployment of Vera Rubin chips is slated to begin in late 2027, with a power footprint of approximately 460 megawatts, enough to power about 345,000 American homes. The deal’s scale represents roughly the GDP of Latvia. Anthropic, the maker of the Claude family of AI models, is reportedly preparing to go public, and securing $45 billion worth of computing capacity is seen as a strategic signal to investors about its ability to compete at the frontier of AI for years to come.
