British neobank Revolut has launched EURR, a euro-pegged stablecoin, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal. The token, designed to maintain a 1 euro parity, is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Luxembourg entity authorized by the CSSF and owned by Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure firm Stripe acquired for $1.1 billion in October 2024. Revolut handles distribution through its Cyprus-regulated subsidiary under MiCA, with plans to expand across the EEA and add tokens in other currencies by year-end. The ECB has expressed reservations about euro stablecoins, warning of risks from sudden redemption pressure and weaker monetary policy transmission. The global stablecoin market stands at $317 billion, with 98% denominated in dollars.
