Thirty-six clubs will be divided into four pots and learn their eight opponents in this new single-table format that replaces the traditional group stage. This reform increases the number of matches from 96 to 144, a 50% rise in content from the opening phase alone. The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16, while teams finishing ninth through 24th enter a knockout playoff round.
