LayerZero officially announced the launch of ATLAS, a cryptocurrency exchange platform designed for institutional players, built on its Zero blockchain. Bryan Pellegrino, the company’s co-founder, claims to have developed an infrastructure capable of processing millions of messages per second with microsecond latency, aiming to compete with major traditional marketplaces. Key launch partners include the trading platform GTE, while Citadel Securities, DTCC, and Intercontinental Exchange have confirmed their collaboration with the protocol. This offensive comes after several difficult months for LayerZero, marked by the Kelp hack in May and the departure of major partners such as Kraken, which chose Chainlink for its interoperability needs. The ATLAS launch is expected this fall and will test LayerZero’s ability to regain market share against a dominant Chainlink in the institutional segment.
