Apple unveiled new Mac Mini and Mac Studio computers featuring M6, M5 Pro, M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips designed for artificial intelligence applications. The Mac Mini, now available with the M6 chip manufactured on a 2-nanometer process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co, can process large language model prompts 8.5 times faster than previous Pro versions. Mac Mini prices increased to $899, up from $599 previously, a $300 rise in just a few months. The Mac Studio with M5 Max chip starts at $2,499 and the model with M5 Ultra chip at $5,499, with multiple units capable of being linked together to run trillion-parameter AI models. Preorders open Tuesday with shipping scheduled for September 22.
