Blockchain analytics firm BitOK found that 107 operations allowed $127.6 million in USDT to escape before Tether could execute freezes, representing a 6.1-fold increase from the previous year. On June 5, 2025, a Tron wallet containing $37.3 million in USDT moved its entire balance two minutes before Tether’s multisignature signers completed the freeze. On Ethereum, the median submission-to-execution window dropped from 3 hours 10 minutes to 1 hour 46 minutes, while on Tron it fell from 1 hour 57 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin with a market capitalization of $183 billion, has assisted law enforcement in notable recoveries, including $225.3 million in a fraud case in 2025. Tether has demonstrated that faster coordination is achievable, with some freezes executing in the same block by March 2026.
