Bridgewater dumps 27% of its Nvidia stake and loads up on AMD in AI chip portfolio shuffle

Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund with roughly $97 billion in assets under management, sold 1.8 million Nvidia shares in Q3 2024, a 27% reduction of its stake. The fund simultaneously purchased an additional 364,292 AMD shares, bringing its total position to 1.5 million shares. The fund also increased its stakes in Super Micro Computer and Palantir Technologies. AMD, positioning itself as a high-performance and cost-effective alternative to Nvidia, announced a 4% workforce reduction, approximately 1,040 employees, in November 2024.
