Cosmos requests validators to ‘halt their chains’ after EVM breach: 148.3M KII lost

Share

Cosmos experienced an EVM security incident prompting validators on affected chains to halt operations. KiiChain suffered the most significant losses with 148.3 million KII stolen across 18 distinct attacks before network shutdown. More than half the stolen funds, 80.7 million KII (54%), could be recovered as they did not leave the chain. MANTRA resumed operations after a 30-hour pause and deployment of Cosmos EVM version 8.4.0, while KiiChain remains offline. The root cause of the vulnerability, located in Cosmos code rather than KiiChain code, remains undisclosed by Cosmos Labs.
