Arm Holdings unveiled the AGI CPU at its Arm Everywhere event in San Francisco, marking its first production silicon after 35 years of only licensing its architecture to others. The chip features 136 Neoverse V3 cores with a 300-watt thermal design power and will be manufactured by TSMC on its 3nm process. Meta Platforms signed as the lead development partner and first customer, with more than 50 companies supporting the platform and customer commitments exceeding $2 billion through fiscal 2028. Arm is targeting $25 billion in annual revenue by around 2031, with $15 billion from direct chip sales and $10 billion from its traditional IP licensing business. This major strategic shift transforms the company into a direct competitor of its own customers, including Amazon, Google and other players that design their own Arm-based chips.
