Kashkari signals possible rate hike if inflation persists

Neel Kashkari, President of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve, has suggested that additional rate hikes may be necessary if inflation does not improve. This position is part of a broader debate within the Federal Reserve about the appropriate level of interest rates. Kashkari dissented at the last meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), favoring a 25-basis-point increase. The committee, however, maintained the federal funds target range at 3.50% to 3.75%. The next Fed meetings, particularly the one in September, will be crucial in determining the future trajectory of monetary policy.
