GnosisDAO has approved GIP-153, giving Gnosis Chain a governance mandate to become a ZK-proven Ethereum rollup rather than continuing as an independent Layer 1 network. The proposal passed with 123,158 GNO voting in favor according to the Snapshot vote. Gas would remain paid in xDAI, with a target genesis window in late 2026 or early 2027. This transition would position Gnosis Chain within an Ethereum Economic Zone, where the chain would settle on Ethereum and inherit its security. The proposal also unlocks approximately 350,000 staked GNO.
