HSBC and Standard Chartered complete the first real cross-border transaction on Swift blockchain

HSBC and Standard Chartered announced the completion of the first real cross-border transaction on Swift’s blockchain, operational since July 2024. This network, developed over nine months using Consensys technology, enables seventeen global banks to test transactions in real conditions. The interoperability agreement between the two institutions marks a step forward toward tokenized deposits. Lewis Sun, Head of Digital Assets at HSBC, highlighted that this transaction demonstrates the potential for interoperability between financial institutions while maintaining regulatory standards.
