Samsung raises chipmaking prices by up to 15% amid demand surge

Samsung Foundry is raising chip manufacturing prices by up to 15 % for new customers, targeting its most advanced processes, including 4nm and 5nm nodes as well as select 8nm applications for the automotive sector. This price increase comes after the division achieved monthly profitability for the first time in three years. Soaring demand, primarily driven by AI workloads, has outpaced Samsung Foundry’s available production capacity. Samsung follows its main competitor TSMC, which has already raised its own prices by 5 to 10 %. Notable customers reportedly include AMD, Google, Anthropic, Meta and BYD.
