Apple’s US App Store commission revenue has fallen 18% year-to-date in 2026, according to data from analytics firm Appfigures. This decline stems directly from an April 2025 court ruling in the Epic Games v. Apple case, which banned the company from collecting commissions on purchases made through external payment links in the United States. In 2024, the US App Store facilitated 406 billion dollars in developer billings and sales. The court decision eliminated Apple’s ability to charge its standard 30% commission on these transactions, despite an existing 15% rate for smaller developers introduced in 2020. The case is currently under appeal, while the European Union’s Digital Markets Act and regulations enacted in Japan and South Korea add further regulatory pressure on Apple’s app store business model.
