Ethereum developers are scheduled to discuss mempool encryption on Aug. 19 to prevent predatory bots from inspecting pending transactions before execution. The EIP-8184 proposal, called LUCID, would require block builders to commit to sealed transactions without knowing their contents, aiming to remove the informational advantage behind sandwich attacks. No known cryptographic construction currently satisfies all of Ethereum’s scale requirements, and key withholding or early key release remain unresolved challenges. Ethereum’s security roadmap targets FOCIL as a consensus-layer priority for the Hegotá upgrade in 2027.
