Round Hill Music, an independent publisher managing $1.1 billion in music rights, has filed copyright infringement lawsuits against both Anthropic and Suno. The actions, filed on August 17 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, allege that both companies used lyrics from over 500 songs without permission to train their AI models. Round Hill’s catalog includes works by James Brown, The Kinks, and Goo Goo Dolls, with titles such as « Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine », « You Really Got Me », and « Iris ». These lawsuits are part of a growing wave of legal actions from the music industry against AI developers. No settlements or resolutions have been reported in either case.
