Nvidia announced it will provide credit and computing power for a new OpenAI data center in Ohio, with an initial capacity of 4.25 gigawatts expandable to 8 gigawatts. The facility, to be built and managed by SB Energy at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike City, is expected to come online in phases in 2028 under a 20-year lease. Nvidia’s financing commitment was reportedly reduced from $250 billion to less than $120 billion. SB Energy and SoftBank will invest at least $4.2 billion in grid infrastructure and power sources supporting 10 gigawatts, while Nvidia will invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy. The project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs through 2032 and 2,500 long-term positions.
