The White House announced it has no plans to publicly release the framework it is developing to vet frontier AI models. Several major tech companies, including Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic, met in Washington today to review the current draft proposal. This framework, mandated by an executive order on June 2 with a 60-day deadline, would remain confidential and participation would be voluntary. Experts, including Chris McGuire from the Council on Foreign Relations, called the decision « baffling, » arguing that secret, voluntary rules cannot effectively regulate the most important technology in the world.
