Tether Gold reserves rise 9.5% as gold posts worst quarter in 13 years

Physical gold reserves backing Tether Gold (XAUt) increased 9.5% in Q2, despite gold prices falling 14.1%, marking the worst quarterly performance since Q2 2013. The number of tokenized gold holders rose 6.5% to 253,000, while the total value of distributed tokenized commodity products declined 4.2% to $4.58 billion over the past 30 days. Tether Gold remains the largest distributed tokenized commodity product with a total value of $2.4 billion. XAUt received Shariah certification from Amanah Advisors in July, a move that could expand access to the token among Islamic financial institutions.
