Kuwait intercepts Iranian drones as Middle East conflict rattles oil markets and safe-haven trades

Kuwaiti armed forces intercepted Iranian drones that entered the country’s airspace, causing material damage on the ground. Since the conflict escalated, Kuwait has intercepted a total of 97 missiles and 283 drones, including 28 during a massive wave attack on June 3, 2026. That same day, Kuwait International Airport sustained heavy damage, resulting in one fatality and dozens of injuries. Commercial aviation across the Gulf was disrupted and Bahrain activated air raid measures as a precaution. Analysts note that new rounds of sanctions could drive some volume toward cryptocurrencies as alternative payment rails.
