Coinbase has appointed Rob Witoff as its new chief technology officer. The company’s former chief architect, who founded security startup Unit 410 that was later acquired by Coinbase, officially took on the role. Witoff recalled that the company started on Heroku with just one cryptocurrency and a small engineering team. CEO Brian Armstrong highlighted his central role in transforming Coinbase into an AI-focused company. This appointment comes amid major organizational changes, including the elimination of 700 positions in May, representing approximately 14% of the global workforce.
