According to the annual Modern Wealth 2026 survey conducted by Charles Schwab, 60% of cryptocurrency holders indicate their intention to increase their investments over the next 12 months, a rate higher than any other measured investment. Currently, 21% of Americans hold cryptocurrencies, a proportion that rises to 47% among investors and 33% among Millennials, compared to 8% for Baby-boomers and 22% for Gen Z. The main motivations cited are long-term growth potential at 36% and portfolio diversification at 33%. Among persistent concerns, volatility is cited by 52% of people familiar with cryptocurrencies, while 44% of respondents hold or wish to directly hold recognized cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
