The Sality botnet, active since 2003, was dismantled on August 31 by CrowdStrike and U.S. justice authorities, with support from Bulgarian, Hungarian and Romanian police. For eight years, this network exploited a clipjacking technique to redirect Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses copied by victims to its own wallets, causing confirmed losses of at least 150,000 dollars. Its peer-to-peer structure, with no central server, had allowed it to survive several cleanup waves. The operation isolated over 15,000 infected machines across four countries.
