Video conferencing platform Zoom has rolled out biometric verification badges for enterprise users, developed by World, the project backed by Sam Altman. The system compares data from World Orb’s iris scanning, a live selfie and the participant’s video feed to display a Human Badge visible to other meeting participants. The rollout follows major incidents, including a $25 million fraud at engineering firm Arup in 2024, where an employee transferred funds after a deepfake executive impersonation during a video conference. In February, suspected North Korea-linked hackers used fake Zoom meetings to trick crypto and fintech companies. The feature is now available globally to Zoom enterprise customers, with major financial partners like Bain Capital and Pantera Capital.
