Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on September 8 that the next trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia could be hosted in the UAE, Switzerland, Turkey, or any other willing country. The negotiations will focus on three priorities: protecting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, securing grain export corridors, and accelerating prisoner-of-war exchanges. Two previous trilateral sessions took place in Abu Dhabi in January 2026 and in Geneva in February 2026. The visit to Kyiv of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on September 6 suggests possible renewed Russian openness to dialogue, although Moscow has not confirmed its participation. Ukraine prefers to hold this third session in autumn 2026, ideally in September, but the timeline depends on agreement from all parties.
