Zcash Hits 8-Year High: Why the Privacy Coin Is Suddenly Tied to the AI Boom

Share

Zcash (ZEC) has reached a new eight-year high, climbing to the $836–$857 range during a months-long rally, with a gain of over 400% since the beginning of the year. This upward trend has been driven by the upcoming launch of a spot Zcash ETF by Grayscale on NYSE Arca (ticker ZCSH) as well as statements from the Winklevoss brothers, who directly linked Zcash’s long-term prospects to the AI boom, arguing that privacy tools like zk-SNARKs become essential against AI-powered automated financial surveillance. Tyler Winklevoss also highlighted the token’s scarcity with a total supply capped at 21 million units, a figure lower than the number of U.S. dollar millionaires worldwide. Despite these positive catalysts, the market presents significant risks: futures trading volume has reached $4.55 billion versus only $553 million for the spot market, indicating an imbalance that exposes the price to sudden liquidation risks.
