XPeng Robotics, the robotics arm of Chinese EV maker XPeng Inc., just closed its first major funding round at over $900 million, with a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion. IDG Capital and Gaorong Ventures co-led the round, with Tencent and Alibaba as strategic investors. The capital will support three pillars: artificial intelligence development, hardware engineering, and manufacturing scale-up for the IRON humanoid robot, standing 1.72 meters tall and weighing 70 kilograms. XPeng is targeting large-scale mass production of its humanoids by the end of 2026, with plans to invest up to 100 billion yuan, roughly $13.8 billion, into humanoid robotics technology over time.
