x402 daily settlement volume has plunged 93% year-to-date, according to market analyst Jamie Coutts of Helios Analytics. After daily peaks near or above $1 million in late 2025, the seven-day average now sits around $41,800, with the latest daily figure at roughly $28,400. This 55% decline over three months contrasts with growing infrastructure for machine-to-machine payments. Cloudflare launched its Monetization Gateway on July 1, using x402 for stablecoin settlement, while Ripple joined the x402 Foundation as a premier member. Coutts calls the numbers a « reality check » but expects agent activity to rise in the fourth quarter alongside greater adoption of agent harnesses.
