According to Rumalla of Safe Labs, self-custody was always meant for everyone because owning and controlling one’s assets is the core purpose of crypto. Multisig wallets secure transactions with multiple keys but can make signer coordination, key backups and recovery procedures more difficult for beginners. Tangem offers a seedless design based on a key generated on one card and copied to two additional devices, but losing every card would permanently lock users out of their funds, although no such case has been reported. Foundation criticized this approach over its lack of a built-in screen, which requires users to verify transactions on their phones and leaves them vulnerable to authorizing a malicious transaction.
