Axios reports that Visa is in advanced talks to acquire Fireblocks in a deal valuing the company at approximately $2.5 billion. Fireblocks provides private-key custody infrastructure through multisignature computation, splitting each key across multiple machines and sites to prevent an attacker from using it. The acquisition would give Visa greater control over the security of stablecoin and tokenized-settlement flows as stablecoin volumes become significant for payment networks. Neither Visa nor Fireblocks has confirmed the deal, its terms and structure remain unknown, and the transaction is still expected to require confirmation and regulatory review.
