Organizations representing US attorneys have proposed amendments to the CLARITY Act, including provisions stating that developers do not create, expand, or modify criminal liability under federal law. White House crypto adviser Patrick Witt said the proposals were « not even close » to the Trump administration’s position. Democrats oppose the bill over ethics rules regarding President Trump’s crypto investments, which earned him 1.4 billion dollars in 2025. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has not scheduled a vote before the August recess, leaving lawmakers a limited window to pass the crypto market structure legislation.
