US president blames Ukraine’s drone attacks on Russia for record diesel prices

Ukrainian drones have struck more than 20 Russian refineries, degrading approximately 40% of Russia’s total refining capacity. Russia banned diesel exports to protect its domestic market, effectively removing about 3% of the world’s daily diesel supply from the market. President Trump pointed to Ukraine’s drone campaign against Russian oil infrastructure as the primary driver behind record-high diesel prices in the US, exceeding $6 per gallon. US refineries are operating at 97% to 98% of capacity, leaving little room to absorb supply disruptions.
