US lawmakers advanced legislation to codify President Donald Trump’s executive order establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve. The American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026 passed the House Financial Services Committee in a 28-21 vote. The bill requires federal Bitcoin to be held for a minimum of 20 years. The US government holds approximately 324,527 Bitcoin worth about $24.7 billion according to Arkham Intelligence. The legislation still needs to pass the full House and Senate before reaching the president’s desk.
