Maya Protocol suffered an exploit on Aug. 18 on its cross-chain liquidity protocol, causing a total liquidity crash of approximately $11 million. The attacker still controls 20.8273 BTC, worth about $1.59 million at current prices, with no outgoing transactions since the exploit. The native CACAO token dropped 88.7%, falling from $0.115 to $0.013, resulting in roughly $6.4 million in repricing losses and $2.9 million in arbitrage. Founder Aaluxx pledged full recovery and is considering replacing the lost 20 BTC through Aztec Chain investments, but Maya Protocol has yet to publish a final pool ledger or define who will absorb the remaining losses.
