Donald Trump posted on social media an image showing the Strait of Hormuz as a new US territory, potentially the 51st state. However, no sovereignty has been transferred and Hormuz remains an international strait between Iran and Oman. According to Kpler data cited by Reuters, only six ships crossed the strait on Monday, compared to nearly 140 per day before the war. Brent crude oil has jumped nearly 15% in August. Bitcoin trades around $64,700, virtually unchanged from a month ago, showing relative indifference to geopolitical tensions around Hormuz.
