Uber stock drops as bookings guidance disappoints, CEO bets big on robotaxi future

Uber reported Q2 2026 earnings with non-GAAP EPS of $0.81 in line with expectations and gross bookings of $58 billion, up 22% year-over-year. However, shares dropped 2-3% in premarket trading after Q3 gross bookings guidance came in at a midpoint of $59.25 billion, below the $59.33 billion Wall Street consensus. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced plans to invest more than $10 billion to scale robotaxi services, targeting over 15 markets by end of 2026, up from 8 currently.
