Twitch now collects live streams, video archives, and chat logs from all its creators by default to train Amazon’s generative AI systems. The opt-out switch is buried at the bottom of the Security and Privacy tab, making it nearly inaccessible without a walkthrough. Chief Product Officer Mike Minton defended the choice by stating that if it was opt-in, nobody would opt in. This sparked outrage beyond the creator base, as regular viewers have no control over data generated in others’ chat rooms. Amazon stock closed at $267.28, down 1.83%, with a market value of nearly $2.88 trillion, unaffected by the backlash.
