Tether, Circle, Ripple, World Liberty Financial, and Paxos have frozen more than $2.6 billion in digital assets linked to a suspected attack against Binance. Tether froze $1.567 billion in USDT, Circle about $823 million in USDC, Ripple about $200 million, and World Liberty Financial $27 million in USD1, while Paxos blocked more than $8 million in PAX Gold. Kairos Research estimated that $5.7 billion left Binance hot wallets, including 1.6 billion USDT, 167,000 ETH, 18,270 BTC, and 613 million USDT on Tron. About $850 million in ETH continued moving between new wallets, and Aave suspended deposits and borrowing on its Ethereum markets as a precaution. Binance says it is investigating the suspicious activity and has assured customers that their assets are safe, but it has not yet confirmed the total amount potentially compromised.
