Trump unveils $2.4 billion in AI research pledges from tech giants

President Donald Trump announced on October 8, 2026 a total of $2.4 billion in AI research commitments from eleven industry partners. Nvidia leads with a $1 billion contribution, accounting for more than 40% of the total, followed by AMD with $500 million and OpenAI with $200 million. These resources, in the form of AI tools and compute credits, will be distributed among more than fifteen federal agencies in the energy, health, space and national security sectors. The Genesis Mission, the White House initiative to apply AI to scientific research, now has over $6 billion in combined commitments from public and private sources.
